Oh Baby!

I just got the best gig ever! I found this incredible "orphanage" (it's actually a home setting, started by a local Christian church, that fosters babies until they are adopted) that allows me to come once a week and hold the babies! It honestly doesn't get better than this! I show up to feed, change, and play with babies! The Haven that I visit, presently has 4 babies, a 5 week old, a 2 month old and two 9 month olds. They are the cutest babies ever and I want to take them all home with me! I spoke with the women who runs this non-profit and asked if I could adopt one, and she told me that if I had started the process when I first moved to South Africa I could have but now it's too late since I am going back to the U.S.! For some awful reason it is very difficult for U.S. citizens to adopt here, yet there is such a need. I'm not sure if this country is afraid to admit that they have an abundance of abandoned babies or it's just an attempt to have the babies stay in this culture, but either way it is unfortunate. If you saw these babies, you would fly over here tomorrow to pick one up! With the hectic life I am about to return to, it may be for the best for now. But I will be praying that the U.S. and South Africa come to an agreement over adoption in the next few years and then I will be back! In the meantime I will treasure every moment I have to giving these babies love!
